Join us Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 for a cooking class with Chef Ken Dempsey, Executive Chef of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion.  For this class, Chef Ken will be teaching a Smoked Brisket Stuffed Cornbread, with a pimento cheese mousse and pickled red onions, served on a bed of pinto beans.  He will also present a discussion on beans.  It has been many years since we've had the pleasure of having Chef Ken in the Eggshells Kitchen, so we eagerly welcome him back!

Classes typically run for two hours, and include all dishes you and the chef prepare. This class begins at 6 p.m.  You will be offered a glass of wine and provided with water. You are welcome to bring any beverage of your choice for the rest of the evening. This class is $65 per seat.  Reserve a spot by calling us at 501-664-6900 or checking-out right here in our online store!

More about the Chef:

Executive Chef Ken Dempsey has always had a love of food and art. He learned both from a very young age--when his parents would let him, he would cook dinner for his family. Chef Dempsey attended college for commercial art and worked in the field for several years, but the lure of the culinary arts was too strong and he returned to his childhood love, beginning at Maumelle Country Club. His excellent work & eye for design turned heads and soon he was working at Ristorante Capeo. He has been head chef at E's bistro, the Arkansas Surgical Hospital, and the Russellville public school district. He is now the Executive Chef of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion.

Chef Ken is married to an AMAZING woman and has a fiery, red-headed daughter to keep him on his toes!  When in the kitchen, he thinks of my grandma Faye the most. He remembers her hands full of dough making biscuits, her sifting through beans to make sure there were no rocks, the smell of cornbread in the oven, and the taste of her perfect sweat tea. He hopes she is proud of him.  We are sure she is!
