Sadly, it seems fudge has been relegated to a gift item around Christmas or when visiting Pigeon Forge (if you haven't been, you should tooootally go). Why? Probably because when I ask people for their fudge recipe, it involves a double boiler and a million hours of waiting for sugar to crystallize.
Now, I love fudge, but I'm not trying to stand in front of my stove for eons. Nor am I trying to scorch sugar. Ain't NOBODY got time for that.
Still, fudge is one of my favorite confections. Like, all time top ten. When I was faced with making a sweet treat for our Sidewalk Sale this past week, fudge immediately sprang to mind. Delicious. Portable. Done. ... But how could I make fudge as simple as it looks? I got to thinking, opened up our cabinets at Eggshells, and saw what we had on hand. .... AND A MIRACLE RECIPE WAS BORN.
Okay, maybe miracle is a strong word, but I can promise you that this fudge is as easy as it sounds. If you've got ten minutes, a microwave, some butter, and chocolate chips... you've got this fudge. The best part? You can add whatever delicious bits you want. Nuts, candy... the sky's the limit.
Me? I decided to add buttery, crunchy bits of Arkansas-made Lambrecht Gourmet Southern Pecan Toffee. It took an already incredible piece of fudge and brought it to the next level.

- 2 11 ounce bags of chocolate morsels (I used one bag of milk chocolate morsels & one bag of semi-sweet, but it's truly up to you)
- 6 - 7 tablespoons of butter
- one can of sweetened condensed milk
- whatever mix-ins fit your fancy! (I used Lambrecht Gourmet Southern Pecan Toffee)
- a pan for cooling your fudge (I used a 9x9 cake pan)
LOOK AT ALL THESE COMPLICATED INGREDIENTS I USED. Oh wait.
Here's how you do it:
- Take your chocolate chips, butter, & condensed milk and combine in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Microwave for 3 minutes.
- Stir. If not completely melted, add 2 more minutes. (This takes a little eyeballing--just keep an eye on it!) Depending on your microwave, you may need to add a little more time after this. Just ensure your mixture is entirely melted!
- Put your toffee (or other mixings that need crushing) into a plastic freezer bag. Beat/roll until desired size is achieved.
- Stir mixings into melted mixture.
- Pour combined fudge mixture into pan for cooling.
- Refrigerate until hardened.
- Serve in small pieces.
That's it. No joke. The result is a perfectly-rich dessert perfect for serving at your next get-together. Yum, y'all!
